“You are my life! I don’t care if I am destroyed, as long as it’s with you,” - E.T.A. Hoffmann
A mechanical doll who is incapable of real love. A beautiful songstress doomed by her own talent. A sly courtesan with an ulterior motive. We know from the start that none of Hoffmann’s great loves will result in a happy ending, but the farcical journey is more important than the unavoidable destination. Combining 18th century melodrama with contemporary drag culture, this new English adaptation embraces opera’s inherent camp factor.
MUO returns to Club 200 with this loud-and-proud, gender-bending spectacle. Don't miss your chance to see what happens when opera collides with the weird and wonderful Winnipeg drag scene.
